Oakgrove cottage offers self catered holiday rental accommodation in a peaceful environment with views of the Wye Valley and close to the Forest of Dean. The sheep in the surrounding fields could make you feel as if you’re on a farmstay.


The cottage is detached from the main family house and has been converted to include traditional cottage-style wood and stone features. Designed for your comfort and convenience with some flexibility in seating provided by a small sofa and leather chair. It’s perfect for a couple to hide away and relax in this wonderful region on the borders of Wales and England.
Fancy a night in? Snuggle up on the sofa with a tasty glass of wine or warming cuppa, and watch the world of wildlife go by. Patio windows in the lounge open onto a private terrace to provide rural views and feeding area for birds and badgers. Alternatively there is a flat screen television and DVD player.






The cottage sleeps 2 in a double bedded room. Duvet, linen and towels are provided. No need for decorative pictures on the wall the window presents a perfectly framed view of the stunning scenery on your doorstep.
The kitchen forms an integral part of the open-plan lounge/diner. There is a fridge with small ice-box, full size electric hob and combination microwave providing the flexibility to grill, microwave or use as a convection oven.


The lobby is tiled and leads to the bathroom which has a shower, WC and washbasin. The heated towel-rail keeps things snug and warm.
Electric heating throughout the cottage should ensure a comfortable holiday at any time of the year. There is ample space for parking on hard standing. For further details of the accommodation, see access statement.

Access Statement
Summary : Suitable for people with reduced mobility as there are no internal steps, however, due to restricted doorways and the rural location our cottage, it would not be suitable for wheelchair access.

Self-catering accommodation Access to the cottage is from a single track country lane (about 1 mile uphill from Brockweir village). The cottage is set back from the driveway on a slightly sloping garden. Luggage can be unloaded outside the cottage – on the driveway. Parking is 15 metres away.
Access to Oakgrove is via the front door which has 2 steps on the entrance. Alternatively access is possible from the patio door, involving a step into the lounge. The area around the cottage is grass, with flagstones outside the patio door, and is therefore unsuitable for a wheelchair or for parking vehicles. A drop off point is available for unloading your vehicle.
Public transport (bus stop) is on the main A466 in Brockweir, about a mile or so away.


Inside the cottage, all accommodation is on one level. Door widths are standard. A tiled entrance hall leads to the tiled shower room. It has a pivot door opening shower cubicle, with a step to enter. The shower has flexible height adjustment. There are no handrails or seat. Toilet and washbasin are standard height. There is an extractor fan.
To the right of the entrance is a double bedroom, carpeted. Non-feather pillows and duvet with polycotton bedlinen are provided. Under the bed is room for storage of the vacuum cleaner, relaxing loungers, and a clothes airer. There is a chest or drawers (with mirror) and wardrobe for clothes storage, a chair, a bedside table and the room benefits from a main window with two openings and one small feature window set high up. There is a central ceiling light and two wall-mounted lights above each side of the bed.
