A Hidden Gem in a Tranquil Location
This is a wonderful cottage located in tranquil surroundings. It's Ideal for that away from it all experience yet but a short distance from historical locations such Caerleon and Caerwent and the pretty town of Chepstow. Tintern Abbey is just a couple of miles from here. The cottage is clean and simple and is well equiped for a comfortable stay. It was a joy to be visited by our local badger friend during the evenings as well as the variety of birds on the feeder, including a couple of woodpeckers. The area is ideal for exploring, which we did mostly during the afternoons as we preferred to relax around the cottage during the mornings and evenings.

My wife and I had the most lovely stay at Oakgrove cottage. It was the perfect setting, great for walking, close to everything you would need, a lovely peaceful setting. The cottage itself was immaculately clean, had everything you could ever possibly need for self catering, with the extra surprise of a visit from the resident badger, coming in the evening for a snack, kindly supplied by the owners. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay at the cottage, for either a short or long stay, plenty to do a see. We cannot wait to go back.

My wife and I have just spent an idyllic week staying at Oakgrove Cottage. It certainly lived up to the description provided on the Holiday Lettings website and more. Both my wife and I have been fortunate in being able to travel the world and as the saying goes, have seen that, done that and brought the T shirt, by booking a holiday in the Forest of Dean we were looking for a retreat to spend a week relaxing away from traffic and noise and general hussle and bussle of urban life. We most certainly found peace and tranquility at Oakgrove cottage. The location is superb the cottage is surrounded by trees yet when the sun shines the patio and lawns are bathed in sunshine. The wildlife that visit the garden is exceptional during our weeks stay we were treated to a wide ranch of wild birds, nuthatches, robins, coletits, bluetits, chiffchaffs, two different types of woodpeckers and many other species. A number of badgers visited the patio nightly, we saw squirrels, rabbits,a fox and were honoured with a visit by a cock pheasant on a number of occasions. The cottage is also an ideal base for those who who enjoy walking. Paul and Gina Butler were wonderful hosts.

Customer review for Oakgrove Holiday Cottage

We can't rate this high enough, what an absolutely amazing place. We had one wonderful week here but we will be going back. We woke everyday to find the pair of pheasants waiting for breakfast and went to bed every night after seeing the badgers have their supper. !!! We filled the bird feeders daily and got so many different birds on it...blue tits, coal tits, great tits, bullfinch, robins, nuthatches, dunnocks , chaffinches...even the great spotted woodpecker tried to get on several times. We also saw a pair of green woodpeckers on the lawn, a group of long tailed tits passed through....your own little piece of paradise...so quiet and relaxing. The owners Gina and Paul made us feel very welcome and even though the cottage is in the grounds of their home we always had our own private space but had the reassurance that they are there if you need them. There is plenty of information in the cottage regarding walks and places of interest etc. Check it out..go see for yourselves..you won't be disappointed.

This cottage not only offers excellent accommodation but is set in delightful surroundings. Nature is on your doorstop with  a wide variety of both animal and bird life. Ideal base for walking, exploring the area or just relaxing in the garden. This was our second visit and intend to return again."

Customer testimonial for Oakgrove Cottage
The cottage is perfect for the two of us - always warm and welcoming. We love the peace and quiet, and the open space all around - patio is perfect in reasonable or good weather and seeing the badgers, foxes and variety of birds makes us keen to return.
